Four Masterpieces In Their Literary Setting

FOUR MASTERPIECES IN THEIR LITERARY SETTING

The Workers' Educational Association (Western District), Warminster Branch, will be holding a series of ten weekly meetings, commencing on Thursday 26 September 1985, at the Branch College of Further Education, The Avenue, Warminster, entitled Four Masterpieces In Their Literary Setting.

The emphasis in this course will be studying four books in depth, rather than dealing with a period in general.

The books are chosen as being representative of developments associated with different countries, and will be: Eugenie Grandet by Honore de Balzac; The Mayor Of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy; Travels With A Donkey In The Cevennes by R.L. Stevenson; and Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak.

The meetings will be held between 2 pm and 3.30 pm, and the tutor will be Mrs. Nesta M. Brinn, B.A. Class fees for the full course of 10 weekly meetings are £11.50, and should be paid by the second meeting. Students solely dependent upon State Retirement Pensions may be enrolled for half-fee. Students' fees may be reduced or in exceptional circumstances waived altogether where they would cause hardship.
